Nothing stirs interest in an issue or a product (or an organization) like coverage in a nationally syndicated column. Over the years, financial columnist Jane Bryant Quinn has penned numerous columns criticizing Medicaid estate planning abuse and encouraging individual responsibility for long-term care. She has always recommended private long-term care insurance (though rarely without some criticism) as preferable to artificial self-impoverishment to qualify for Medicaid (which she has consistently condemned).
